Busy Spring beckons for Border Park

After the recent wash-out against Alnwick RFC at Symons Park, Owld Tom has had "wor lass" put our shiny new kit through the mangle a couple of times, and we look forward to continuing our progress in 2019.

First up we have our own Border Park Tens competition, from 10am this coming Easter Sunday. If you aren't already up to speed, we have two pitches in use throughout the day, accommodating teams from across the North East & Scottish Borders, as well as Fire & Dough Pizza and Kielder Organic Meats keeping everyone fed, and the usual world famous Border Park hospitality. The weather forecast for the day is unusually good for Kielder, so we encourage all ages to head up for cracking day out.

Following on from (hopefully) winning our 3rd consecutive Border Park Tens, we're heading to Morpeth RFC for our annual Spring fixture with Morpeth Marauders on Friday 26th April. Scores since 2017 currently sit all square, with Border Park having beaten the Marauders 50-5 in 2017, and the Marauders coming away with the bragging rights with a 40-24 win last year.

The day after, we take a side to take part in the Langholm 7s tournament, where we had an untimely exit last year, leaving the competition in the first round. We've got a strong squad at our disposal this year, and we look forward to the opportunity to add to the Chairman's silver cabinet at Symons Park.

Finally at the beginning of May, we will be taking a side to Lovaine Avenue to take part in Whitley Bay Rockcliff's own Tens tournament. This will be our first year entering this tournament and no doubt there will be some strong competition, not least from WBR who have just won promotion to DN1, having won an impressive 26 from 26 games in DN2 this season.

2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Border Park RFC, with some more tournaments being lined up over the summer and a number of home fixtures against local and touring sides. Keep an eye on our Facebook or this website for more info.
